surprise wow yeah new music

yeah you can find it on my page

soundcloud link here, spotify link here as well

Anyways it showed up on my spotify that my ep is out on there (yeah I didn’t know when it releases, even though I literally typed in the date I’d like it to, that makes no sense dude like wtf) and I listened to it as you do and I noticed it was much quieter than the song I previously had on. And I immediately felt so defeated. I’ve been worrying with my songs being mastered (mastering is when you mess with the loudness and overall sound of the song and stuff, mostly really small changes, it’s like the last stage of making a song) really quiet for like eternity now. It’s so frustrating too, because it’s sorta a non-issue, there’s not a ton of actual quality sensible information about it online, I would probably have to contact an actual mastering ingeneer, that works on songs I’ve listened to, to actually get some. And it just feels like I’m fighting an invisible Mike Tyson. Like what the hell could you do in that situation.

What I’ve made of the info I’ve managed to take in until now is that you should have song at like -9 LUFS (percieved loudness) at max. And most of my songs now have been that, but they’re still quiet compared to other ones. I don’t know if I should contact the nearest mental hospital or what’s going on.

So in my hopelessness I decided to inspect some tracks myself and get a conclusion on it all from songs I’ve actually listened to and like. I downloaded some from Disciple on Youtube (cause I know some tracks released there have a free download in the description) and looked at the LUFS levels. BRO IT WAS LIKE -3 OR SOMETHING. That has confused me even more, because like do people master it different for youtube than spotify? I’ve heard that is way too much and that it’ll distort your songs a lot and stuff. + one song by Infekt actually had like -8 LUFS or sum but the verses were really quiet and the drop was as loud as the others I AM INSANE

+ I HEARD ANOTHER ARGUMENT ON THAT SAYING ITS POINTLESS AND THE PERSON LISTENING CAN JUST TURN IT UP, which honestly makes perfect sense, it’s just inconvinient. SO PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING I FIND OUT ABOUT THIS MAKES ME KNOW WHAT TO DO EVEN LESS.

Anyways I’m abouta watch another video on this have an at least above average week, unlike me lmao i dont actually mean that I’m doing great. Seeya hopefully

uhh tf happened lol
i don know nothin bro

I personally enjoy listening to music that's mastered relatively quiet with a wide dynamic range. I tend to turn a lot of releases down when I listen to music, especially albums/tracks released arounnd 90's-2000's. That shit would usually be mastered extremely loud.
